Discover how to get the exotic Khvostov 7G-0X auto rifle in Destiny 2 The Final Shape by collecting 17 Motes of Light with this guide.
The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2 has reintroduced the iconic Khvostov auto rifle as an exotic weapon. To obtain the Khvostov 7G-0X, players must first gather 17 Motes of Light and unlock a golden chest in The Lost City. This guide will explain how to collect all the necessary Motes of Light and claim the exotic Khvostov.
To get the 17 Motes of Light needed for the exotic Khvostov, players must complete two tasks:
The 8 Visions of the Traveler are collectibles scattered throughout the game world. Each Vision grants one Mote of Light when picked up. These collectibles can only be found after completing The Final Shape campaign. It is important to note that the Vision located in the Seclusion region may be inaccessible if players have not progressed far enough in Micah’s Alone in the Dark quest, which involves finding lost ghosts.
To acquire the remaining 9 Motes of Light, players must participate in Overthrow activities in each of the three zones: The Landing, The Blooming, and The Impass. Each zone has 3 unique bosses that spawn as players increase the Overthrow level by completing public events and opening chests.
Players can obtain 1 Mote of Light from each boss, but they cannot receive another Mote by defeating the same boss again. The final boss defeated will drop a Mote of Primordial Light, which is crucial for opening the exotic Khvostov chest.
Once players have collected all 17 Motes of Light (8 from Visions of the Traveler and 9 from Overthrow bosses), they should return to The Lost City and visit the Tower where the Speaker used to reside. Here, players must place the 8 Visions of the Traveler on the small pillars surrounding the central pool. This action will cause a golden chest to appear in the pool.
Using the Mote of Primordial Light obtained from the final Overthrow boss, players can now open the golden chest and claim their exotic Khvostov 7G-0X auto rifle.
While pursuing the exotic Khvostov, players should be aware of a known bug that can occur when obtaining the 17th Mote of Light from the Servitor boss in The Blooming zone. In some cases, collecting this final Mote may cause all previously acquired Motes to disappear, preventing players from obtaining the Mote of Primordial Light and ultimately the exotic Khvostov.
To avoid this issue, it is recommended that players do not leave the Servitor boss as their final target when collecting Motes of Light from Overthrow activities. Instead, ensure that another boss is defeated after the Servitor to minimize the risk of encountering this bug.
By following this guide and being mindful of the potential bug, Destiny 2 players can successfully gather all 17 Motes of Light and unlock the exotic Khvostov 7G-0X auto rifle in The Final Shape expansion.
