To begin An Unsettling Encounter quest, you need to talk to Captain Brant in Vernworth. If you can’t find him, try going to the Stardrop Inn at night, he will be sitting beside the bar.

Make sure that you have completed the previous main quest, The Stolen Throne to unlock this quest.

After receiving the quest, follow these next steps:

Step 1: Go to Vernworth Castle

First, you’ll need to go to Vernworth Castle, located in the Royal Quarter of Vernworth. Once you reach the palace grounds, a guard named Sonia will approach and escort you inside the castle, setting the stage for your investigation.

Step 2: Search Allard’s Chambers

Your objective is to find the Battahli-Crested Letter, which is hidden in Allard’s Chambers on the castle’s second floor.

As you enter the room, carefully examine the eastern side of the room, where you’ll notice a slight indent on the wall.
Pressing against this hidden spot will reveal a secret room, where you’ll find the hidden letter on a desk.

Step 3: Escape the Castle and Report Back

After retrieving the letter, you’ll encounter Sven, who catches you in the act. At this point, your priority is to escape the castle through the window in Allard’s Chambers and make your way back to the Stardrop Inn.

Once there, speak with Captain Brant to deliver the letter and report your findings, completing An Unsettling Encounter quest.
