Loki brings mischief and transformation to Marvel Mystic Mayhem as the latest 3-star controller. Unlike traditional controllers who focus mainly on supporting damage dealers and tanks, Loki offers a playstyle with decent damage output and utility through his clone summoning.
He has access to area attacks, making him an interesting alternative for players looking for a more aggressive controller option.

Loki is an energy-type controller who specializes in area damage and crowd control through debuff effects. What sets him apart from other controllers is that he can deal significant damage while still providing utility.
However, his kit doesn’t include shields or heals, so you’ll need to compensate with either a really tanky frontline or another controller who can provide sustain and damage buffs.

Loki has two forms, but he’s quite easy to play and not as complicated as his transformation might suggest. However, there are a few key things you need to understand to use him effectively.
Mischief is important for getting your ultimate faster since your main damage output comes from your transformation. It’s also your only real defensive ability that directly helps your frontline, as enemies will start focusing on the clone instead of your other characters.
Ice from Jotun reduces enemy attack speed by applying the Frozen effect, but this doesn’t make a huge difference to overall team sustain. It’s more about setting up your passive and preparing for your transformation abilities.
Here’s an important tip: when you’re about to use your ultimate, try to use your current abilities first since they’ll get scrapped from the ability pool once you transform. After you use Fiddle the Fate, if possible, use Iceberg of Jotun before Harbinger of Ragnarok. This is because Iceberg applies Frozen, and Harbinger deals increased damage to Frozen enemies, creating a powerful combo.
Your Chill Pact passive is key to your damage output since it reduces defense of enemies with status effects by 24%. This works with Frozen from your abilities, but also synergizes well with teammates who can apply Wet, Electrified, or Burning effects.

Loki works best in special damage teams where his area abilities and defense reduction can shine. Emma Frost should be your go-to partner since Emma’s ultimate can increase special damage output and will help make up for the lack of a traditional striker.
While there are many characters you can pair with Loki, he’s not the first choice for a controller in most team compositions. Other meta-controllers like Invisible Woman, Emma Frost, and Doctor Strange often provide better team-wide utility.
For traditional special damage compositions, try Scarlet Witch + Loki + Juggernaut. If you want a standard area damage team, Human Torch + Loki + Juggernaut works well.
For dual controller setups, Emma Frost + Hulk + Loki is quite strong since both Emma and Loki can contribute significant damage while Emma provides the special damage buffs. You can also try Loki + Thor + Juggernaut if you want a Fighter instead of a second controller, though overall sustain will be lower due to no heals.
The key is building around special damage dealers and characters who can apply status effects to maximize his passive benefits.
Highlight | Description | Why This Works |

![]() Weavers of Dream | Gains 90 Ultimate Energy at the start of battle | Allows for early transformation to establish battlefield control |
Artifact | Description | Why This Works |
![]() Cosmic Cube | Grants 40 Ultimate energy for the wearer and a random ally after using a skill | Essential for frequent transformations and ultimate usage |
![]() Gungnir | Increases the wearer’s Skill DMG by 30% | Boosts all of his area damage abilities significantly |
![]() Gamma Mutagen | Increases the wearer’s Energy Generation by 20% | Helps with consistent ability usage and transformation cycling |
Heart 1 is overall better than Mind 1 for Loki. When your Mischief clone is defeated, it deals area damage and applies Frozen, which can later increase the effects from its Chill Pact passive.
If you follow the Heart path to Heart 3, it provides team-wide ultimate energy when the clone is defeated, which can be incredibly valuable. This is especially useful if you’re running compositions like Hulk + Emma Frost + Loki, where both Hulk and Emma have really strong ultimates. The ability to help your team cast ultimates faster will increase the overall damage output significantly.
The Heart path creates better synergy with his kit since it enhances his clone utility while providing team benefits, whereas the Mind path focuses more on individual damage output.
Loki is currently featured on a banner as the main 3-star character, along with Angela and Dreamqueen as boosted 2-star characters. However, you can actually consider skipping this banner if resources are limited.
While Loki is definitely A-tier, other controllers in S-tier like Invisible Woman, Emma Frost, and Doctor Strange provide better overall team-wide utility for most situations.
Unless you’re specifically building around status effect compositions or want a more damage-focused controller, you might want to save for other banners.
If you enjoy characters with unique mechanics and don’t mind the lack of traditional healing or shielding support, Loki can be a fun and viable addition to your roster. Just make sure to build your team around his strengths and compensate for his lack of sustain abilities.
